Community Children's Nursing - Sue Jordan

Are you working at the moment? If so, where?
Band 6 Senior Staff nurse for the Paediatric Integrated Nursing Service covering West Berkshire

Why did you choose Oxford Brookes?
My employers Berkshire Foundation Healthcare Trust seconded me to do this course.

What are you hoping to do when your course is finished how do you expect it to help your future career?
I have finished the course and been promoted for the above team due to this qualification, however I am hoping for the future to find a Community Children's Nursing job.

What have you enjoyed most about your time at Brookes?
The support, facilities and meeting new nursing colleagues/lecturers and sharing good practice.

What advice would you give to others who are considering taking the course?
You have to be committed, motivated and have organisational skills to meet the required deadlines. As a student CCN you must be prepared to travel and be flexible due to the provision and locations of CCN teams and CPTS. Above all, however hard it is enjoy it and make the most of your year it goes so quickly!!!

Would you recommend your course to others?
Yes definitely. I have learnt so much about myself and expanded my nursing knowledge and expertise. I really appreciate being given this opportunity.
